I had the same problem, but I checked my semi-sewn bag and tried to guess out what had to be done to get the handles look as they should. it's tricky and you will need to fight a bit with your fabric (at least I did Tongue )

I hope you figure out. if I do some other bag soon and you still did not, I'll try and get some extra pics on that step. good luck!!

All the steps up to the handles, I have sewn across the main fabric (the handles per instructions), but when it says "to keep going to the lining" I sit there going "eh?" I pulled the lining back to sew the main fabric how to I continue sewing to the lining fabric? Maybe I am dense!  Cheesy

mmmm if I remember properly... doesn't the lining start just where you have finished sewing the main fabric? you have to struggle a bit and put the lining in the same way you put the main fabric for sewing, then sew on

I do need to make another one of these

Basically you are sewing in a circle.  Like the inside of a tube.  This way your seam will end up inside.

You might want to print out the pictures and have there by the sewing machine.   I've had to do this with other tutes.
