But  I have a question.  I keep reading about how the etch kinda eats away at the glass or something like that.  so does that mean that these glasses are weakened and may not last long?

It only eats through the glass on the VERY surface, so it doesn't eat enough away for it to actually do any damage.

So does that mean that it doesn't matter if the glasses are "cheap"?  I see alot of people have bought thrift store ones.
