This is really cool, I'll have to try it soon.
Does anybody know if etching cream comes in any other colors? You think it would be possible to dye it?

Those are absolutely fabulous! Did you do it on the shotglasses too? Do you have any pictures of those? I think this would be a great inexpensive gift to add to my brothers present, because I know he's low on glasses. I never even thought about doing something like that for him. I think I'm going to use computer dingbats of Star Trek and Family Guy characters for him. I think he will love it! Man, this has given me so many ideas!
I wish I hadn't seen this tonight though because I really want to run out and buy the stuff to do it with RIGHT NOW, but I've got a test I have to study for.

Contac paper works really well for taping off for etching glass. And it comes off very easily.

thanks so much for posting this! it's a great idea for the people on my christmas list that are hard to buy for.
i purchased some glasses from the thrift store today, they were about $.30-$.60 each. i even found a set of 4, and a set of 8. tall and short drinking glasses, shot glasses...maybe try a thrift store before you go to the regular store? they had glass vases, too.

Well, I tried my hand at this.....
First I would highly recommend getting some glasses at the thrift store first. It is a good idea to practice. Anyway, really the hardest part was deciding what to put on them once I got all the supplies.
I got this set of four for a buck and think it came out ok. The glasses were scratched a little but I am keeping these and not giving them as a gift so I didn't really mind.
What do you think? I think not bad for a first try, I will definitely do this again. Thanks again for the great idea!! I had fun doing this.

Wow, those glasses look great! Paired with a bottle of spirits and it's a cute hostess gift. Must buy some etching cream!
