Very cool, I tried this and it is easy with good results.  I made vases and candle votives.  Use the throw away parts of stickers after you take the stickers off.  The shapes are still there and the images appear knocked out on the glass.

Hi all! I've been a lurker for a little while but this is my 1st post. I love the site. I just wish I had more time to get crafty.

I love etching! I've done a couple of sets of glasses for friends wedding gifts, (they loved them) but only with these old english looking letters that I'm not realy crazy about. The stuff pictured on this post just looks so great, please tell me where you got the letters from.

I got them at etchworld.com. I have to say they are good for etching like 1 initial. I like a more modern, clean look. I also want to do words, which is why I can't wait to find out where the other letters came from.

I got vinyl letter stickers at Michaels. They were 99 cents per pack. They are in the scrapbooking section. The package says 'creative letters' on it.

i got all my letters and stickers at Ben Franklin craft stores.  But they sell them in the scrapbooking sections of most craft shops!    Enjoy and good luck!  Happy Etching!

when i saw this post, i loved the idea, so i tried it myself.  i bought some armour-etch (for something like 23$ CAD) and two wine glasses for my parents (it's their christmas present).  i did the whole glass, but i couldn't get it on evenly.  do you have any ideas or tips?  i did a test run first on an old glass and it came out awesome (i didn't do the whole glass, though), so i thought it would be even on the other glasses.

anyway.  tips and tricks or advice is greatly appreciated on this!

see what i mean?  it's all streaky.  what happened?  the only thing i can think of is that i did it twice (i put the etching cream on twice, i mean).  i'm thinking i'm going to buy another couple of glasses and try this again!  sigh.  thankfully, the glasses were only 2$ each, so i'm not too upset!  =)
