Here's my entry! My girls never eat hot lunch, and it's really hard to find a good, reusable lunch bag. Most of them fall apart before the year is over, so I made up my own. I love Full Metal Alchemist, so I made this lunch bag a chibi version of Al:

it fits inside the bag around a part of the drawstring. I painted his blood seal on the inside with puffy paint:

Finished bag is approximately 10”x 8”
Materials:
2 skeins gray worsted weight yarn
small amount of white worsted weight yarn
small amount of black worsted weight yarn
small amount of orange worsted weight yarn
black safety eyes—2 15 mm
cat safety eyes—2 12 mm
red puffy paint
small amount of polyester stuffing
2 small beads for cat purse
fastener (Velcro or a snap) for front, if desired

Tie

2.Starting at ch-3 spot in main body, (this will be center back) weave tie ends into dc row every 3 dc to front, making sure both ends are even and end up in center front. Do not cinch these up until you have added the face flap and arms.

Add large safety eyes using picture for reference and embroider mouth. Put both flap pieces together and either whipstitch or single crochet both together, leaving top open.
Find the center point of flap and main body. Right sides together (the face will be against the back of the body), pin flap to body. Whipstitch through all 3 layers along the edge securely. Weave in ends.
Feather (make 2)
1.ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next 5 ch, ch 3, sc in same st, ch 3, dc in same st, along other side, dc in next 4 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in next 2 ch, sc in same st, finish off.
2.Whipstitch both feathers together along edges, sew to top of flap, using picture for reference.
Helmet point
1.ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook
2.(sc in each sc) around (5 sc)
3.(2 sc in each sc) around (10 sc)
4-6. (sc in each sc) around (10 sc)
7. Sl st in next st, finish off.
Stuff lightly and sew to head using picture as reference.
Arms (make 2)
1.ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook
2.(2 sc in each sc) around (12 sc)
3.(sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (18 sc)
4.(sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (24 sc)
5-6. (sc in each sc) around (24 sc)

19. Sl st in next st, finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
stuff, leaving top part empty. Press opening flat and pin to bag starting right next to sides of flap. Sew through 3 layers securely, weave in ends.
Strap (make 2)
(if desired, you can make 4 pieces for a more backpack-like bag)
1.ch 70, sc in back of 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across
2-4.ch 1 turn, sc in each sc across
5. Finish off.
6. sc or whipstitch both pieces together around all edges.
7.Find center point on top back of bag (where you sewed flap to bag) and sew strap securely to bag. Go back and forth a few times because this part of the bag will take the most strain of the weight of what you put in it! Find the center bottom and sew other end of strap securely to bag.
Kitty money pouch
1.ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook
2.(2 sc in each sc) around (12 sc)
3.(sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) around (18 sc)
4.in back loops only, (sc in each sc) around (18 sc)
5.both loops again, (sc in each sc) around (18 sc)
6-10. (sc in each sc) around (18 sc)
11. Sl st in next 3 sc, ch 3, sl st in same st, sl st in next 3 sc, ch 3, sl st in same st, sl st in remaining sc around. Finish off. Add safety eyes using picture for reference. Use puffy paint or embroider mouth.
12. Using a long, single strand of yarn, thread in and out of row 10 and cinch to close. Add beads to ends to keep them from unraveling or pulling out of pouch. Tie pouch to inside of bag around a section of the lunch bag tie.
Turn the bag inside out. Use puffy paint to make the seal inside Al’s armor. Let it dry for 12 hours. Use the picture for reference.
Use Velcro, a snap, or other fastener to secure flap in front if desired.
