VIEW TUTORIAL ON HOW TO MAKE THIS ON PAGE 9!!

So, I have this thing, where i love the look of yukata [summer kimonos], and i love the look of obis, but i never have any real occasion in which i can wear it in an every day situation.

With that in mind, I tried to design a hoodie that captured the feeling of the colorful kimono prints, basic kimono construction, yet have something i could wear to the mall [or some public place] as well.

Construction:

The front wraps around and zippers down the side.

The jacket opens all the way up in the front, like a kimono..

I <3 huge hoods.  Also, i like the way the white hood pieces serve as a highlight for the neck line.

The obligatory artsy pose.. Here's what it looks like when I actually wear it.

The back.

And me just being stupid, trying to act cute for teh boyfriend.  Did I mention I'm 24 years old? Smiley

Ahh, let me know what you think, I want to make another one with this same type of theme in mind with slight mods, let me know if you have any ideas for upgrades!! [I was thinking a corset-obi, maybe? so i can tighten the middle area?]

ggthxkkbye

============

Edit, here's another version of a kimono hoodie for you guys... just to show how this pattern can be modified:

Awesome design! Nothing to say for improvements.  To make it more kimono-esque, you could give it those wide sleeves, but of course that cuts down the wearable factor...
In any case, love it <3

I like penguins, stars, rainbows and blue.
If your project has any of these, don't be surprised to see me post in it! Cheesy

That is so cute and what an amazing idea. I love it!

Does the front stay in place with just the zipper?
