a rakestraw spindle should be allowed on a plane and is easier to use in a confinded space like an airplane

Here is a video of how it works

And here is where to purchase them

I took my spindle on a plane!  The security people didn't even bat an eye.

I have no idea what you're talking about, so here's me with some yarn on my head.

holy man!  That rakestraw thing looks like even an uncoordinated goose like me could use it!!  Also, everyone's yarns look sooooo good Cheesy  I wish I could show what I've got, but that would ruin the surprise for bloocanoe Cheesy

feralfeminine, if you don't mind my asking, where did you get your organic pima cotton? i've never spun before, but I think if I was to try it, I'd want to try it with something like that!

I'm pretty sure I got it from http://www.littlebarninc.com. Their website isn't really that great to navigate, but they sell some really nice fibers! Also, I don't think the cotton was marked as 'organic' on their website, but the stuff I got is. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Just a warning - cotton is the hardest fiber I've ever spun! The fibers are super super short. So don't get discouraged if you find it really hard to start with.

thanks so much! I actually have some beautiful angora fiber that I meant to try to spin, but haven't gotten to yet, I guess I'll try that first, and then move on to the cotton.
