yea i dont remember the amount but when i ordered a load of t shirts from the US i got taxed about 8 quid on them about 2 months later LOL I think my order came to about 40 quid though so its not that much tax to pay.
www.cheapfabrics.co.uk is the one i always use. quite good choice of fabric too.
www.fabricuk.com isn't too bad either...

The only thing to be careful of is import taxes, I'm not sure, but I think that anything not classed as a gift over a certain amount (17?) is taxed.

I believe if your order is over 36 you get taxed (I think 17.5%) and then Royal Mail charge a handling fee (8 last time I ordered). Here's a site that I like though with lots of cute designs: www.ladybuttonfabrics.com

If you want quilting fabric, I always order from http://www.keepsakequilting.com/ in the US. The strength of the pound makes their fabrics really affordable. You can sign up too for their free catalogue they'll send you in the mail. It comes out every three months. I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I receive it. Their fabrics are beautiful, they offer a wide range and their prices are very reasonable. (Cheaper than the fabric I just bought in Paris this past weekend!)
