Hello,

I just wanted to talk about a community knitting project ive embarked upon, for facebook users.

you can find out all about it by logging on to facebook and looking at the 'lets knit facebook' group.

here's the official blurb:

"we want to knit a big internety blanket from lovely woolly wool.

Lets all get together and knit a great big facebook profile.

When we know who wants to play, we'll divide the page up into squares and send you a pattern....

You do the knitting - or get your gran to - and then we sew all the squares together - or get our grans to.

It'll be great. its time social networking went a bit more tactile we reckon."

woulbe be great to get some harecore knitters like yourselves involved!

xx

Just a concern...

If you are going to be making a blanket to give away, shouldn't it be made out of acrylic?  I know wool is much nicer and warmer, but acrylic is much easier to take care of and who knows what means this person will have for washing it.

Just a suggestion.

thanks for the link! i just joined

and i agree. if making blankets for charity they should be acrylic. wool allergies are more common than you think and acrylic is machine washable, bug proof, and practically indestructible.

Excellent!
good to there are some actual proficient knitters on there (there are quite a few supportive non-knitters, who are also finding ways to join in the project Smiley )

Thanks for the tips on the wool vs acrylic issue. when we get to the point of dishing out patterns we will let our troop of knitters know what kind of yarn to use.
