Bunny in a Bear
« on: June 12, 2007 09:57:07 AM »

Hello everybody!

My name is John and I'm a crafter at heart.  Since I was kid I have always loved crafting things and having a project on the go.  Then when I grew up I lost that desire, it took meeting another crafter to rekindle that lust for me.

I'm into knitting, making stenciled T-shirts, home decor, and anything geeky Wink.  I have a lot of things I want to try, and I'm still just getting my feet wet and getting over the fear of making mistakes.

I love the community here and I really need to become more social and meet some new friends.  I recently broke up with my girlfriend of over a year and I'm having a hard time moving on Cry.  So in an effort to help me expand my horizons and rediscover myself I'm going to take the plunge.

My forum name is a recent realization of the type of person I am.  I have the quiet soul of a bunny trapped in the large body of a bear.  I hope that with meeting new people and expressing myself I can try to become the more outgoing person I want to be.

Thanks!

There are no mistakes- only variations!. Some of my neatest projects have sprung out of other projects that did not go as planned Cheesy

Welcome, John,

Your description of yourself reminds me of my younger brother Smiley

And I second meandering artist's comment - no mistakes!  If it's not quite what you were going for, it's either a variation or a learning experience!

Cheers,
Ceilidh.

Welcome back to the world of crafting!  I'm also trying to overcome my fear of making mistakes, so I totally understand where your coming from there. This forum helps that tremendously by challenging you to do new things or old things in a new way. You can show what you did, or not. Its very freeing.

Your self description sounds alot like my son. He looks like a bear and tries to act like a bear, but he's really just a bunny. I love that about him Smiley

Have a lovely day,
Elf

Welcome to Craftster neighbour!  I'm from Barrie too, living just north of there now though.

This is probably the best online crafting community out there.

Hello!

I'm brand new here, so I understand how you feel.

I really related to liking the community here and wanting to become more social.  I feel the same way.  I craft at home, alone and it would be much more satisfying to connect with others while doing that.

I also like your bunny/bear description.
hope to see you around here.

Welcome to Craftster. If you want to meet people quickly, I suggest getting involved with swaps and maybe some knitalongs. Since this forum is pretty strict about keeping things on-topic, those are good avenues for socialization without running afoul of any mods. Swaps especially are good for making friends, because you can often keep in touch with your swap partner and maybe even partner up with them again in the future.

Also, if you post pictures of yourself modeling your own creations and include the inquiry "do you think girls like or dislike guys who are crafty?" you'll have more chicks than you can beat off with a stick.
