Are there any cool sewing circles or craft groups that meet around Boston or Cambridge?  I'm getting back into making my own clothes and would like to start doing some purses and stuff too.  Thanks!

Not sure about sewing, but there are knitting/crocheting groups that meet at Windsor Button in Downtown Crossing and Brookline Booksmith.

Thanks!  I actually found (and joined) the Stitch n Bitch Boston Yahoo group and plan on going to a meeting after the holidays.

it seems there are knitting circles scattered around but are there any more sewing-oriented and/or craft groups as you had mentioned?  if not, can we all join forces and start something up?

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Medford hosts a Stitch'n'Bitch the first Saturday of every month (for Jan., though, it's tomorrow:  Jan. Cool from 11 to 5.  They're located on the corner of High & Powderhouse, just outside Medford square heading for Somerville, and everything happens in the fellowship hall.  The SnB inclues sewers, scrapbookers, knitters, and everything in between!  There are big tables and electrical outlets for spreading out your stuff and a wide range of ages turn out.  The SnB is hosted by Bob (who sews and made the most amazing Halloween costume this past fall) and if you'd like to go, tell them Lesley sent you! Unfortunately, I can't go tomorrow but I'll definitely be at the February SnB.

I just found out from another Stitch n Bitcher that there is a crafts studio opening this weekend in Davis Square, Somerville!  It's called Spark Crafts and I think the url is www.sparkcrafts.com
