I am just starting to work with batik, and am playing with some tea towels, soy wax, and procion dyes, with the vat dye rather than painting on dye.  The soy wax has a low melt point, and I am having trouble getting dark colors, like black and dark red and dark green (the background of the tomatoes towel is chinese red overlain with forest green overlain with black, and it ended up mostly maroon).  I did have to cheat and use discharge paste on the tomato towel after the red bath, as I didn't use enough wax.

they look good to me! Apparently, they also look good to my Serenity-lovin' bf, who gasped aloud as I scrolled down and gave a big thumbs up. =)

These are amazing! I haven't worked up the nerve to try batiking yet... but I love the work you did.  The Tomato is my fave!

I am the proud recipient of the Tomatoes towel (from Shop the Swap Round 2), and lemme tell ya what...it's AWESOME!  I paraded it around to all my neighbors before hanging it up on my kitchen wall.  I'm a happy, happy girl.     Grin

I have no idea what you're talking about, so here's me with some yarn on my head.

These are awesome!
I haven't ever tried batiking, but I really like your end result. The Blue Sun one is fantastic, but I have to say the tomoto is my fave. I like the colour inconsistencies in the lobster one, very cool!
