I see your quilt made it onto the hot projects scroll area so congrats!!  How did the show go that you debuted your quilt at?  Was it a competition or just a show?

Thanks for the new pictures.  I love Hagrid's hut.  So many cool blocks.  But you realize, you'll have to add a few more after the last book comes out!!!  Grin

That is beautiful. I see all these wonderfully creative quilts and find it so appealing, but when I go to the craft store, the hobby seems so structured and planned. I saw that you said it was "paper pieced." Can you recommend a book or site on that technique?

Oh, how big is it / are the blocks?

Again, it is beautiful and I'm amazed at your creativity! You should be incredibly proud of that quilt, I hope it was very well received at Phoenix Rising!

Thank you so much!  It was very well received, I can't tell you how many compliments I got!  Honestly, I kept going back to check on it, because I hated just leaving it there!

I have a very, very hard time working with traditional patterns.  I started that way, but became bored kind of quickly.  I discovered paper piecing by accident and am now completely hooked.  I make one heart pattern from a book and immediately saw the potential.  A couple of months later, I worked up the nerve to design my own patterns.

http://www.caroldoak.com is a great website. Carol Doak is the queen of paper piecing and really the reason it's so popular now.  The book I learned from was her "Show Me How to Paper Piece" which I checked out from the library.  There are quite a few free resources online, too.  This is my favorite:  http://www.winnowing.com/ppp.html

Oh, and the squares are each 5".

I can't tell you how surreal it is for it to be done after working on it for so long.    I've got my fingers and toes crossed on the book.  It's coming together nicely so far...so if I can just get a signed!

that is so very cool!! i added it to my wists lol

Oh, wow!  I don't know if I've ever been on anyone's wists before, so that is extra cool!
