I don't know why, but I wanted to crochet a carrot. So I did
I think the title is explained by this picture:
(Since obviously if you are ever going to crochet a carrot you have to hold it like in the logo of
Food Not bombs)
I also made it a face:
I didn't use a pattern for it. Just made it up as I went along.
And I wrote down the pattern:

1. Make 6sc:s in the loop
2. 2sc:s in each sc=12sc
3. *1sc, 2cs:s in one sc*=18sc
4. *2sc, 2sc in one sc* = 24sc
5. 1sc in the back loop of each sc= 24sc
6. 1sc in each sc=24sc
7. *6sc, sc-dec (1sc in two sc)* =21sc
8.-10 1sc in each sc =21sc
11. *5sc, sc-dec* = 18sc
12.-14. 1sc in each sc =18
15. *4sc, sc-dec* = 15sc
16-19. 1sc in each sc = 15sc
20. *3sc, sc-dec* =12sc
21.-24. 1sc in each sc = 12sc
25. *2sc, sc-dec*= 9sc
26.-29. 1sc in each sc= 9sc
30. *1sc, sc-dec* = 6sc
31.-33. 1sc in each sc = 6sc
34. *sc-dec*= 3ks
Leave enough yarn for sewing the hole
Stem(with 3mm hook)
yarn loop
1. 9sc:s in the loop
2. *2sc, 2sc:s in one sc* = 12sc
3. *1sc, chain3, 1sc in the same sc than the previous sc*
The
leaves are made areound the center of the stem to the 9 sc:s. Pull the yarn through like in the
picture), and make as many chain sts as you want the leave to be long. Then make 1sl in the 2nd chain from the hook, then sl in all the other chain sts. When you get back to the base, make sl to the sc. Then make sl to the next sc in the stem center, and again as many chain sts as you want, and so on..
Sew the carrot a face. I used beads for the eyes, and some black yarn for the mouth.
