Hey guys!
I am not really new to craftster but I didnt know where to put this. I want to go up to new york, (I live outside of philly, in a town called west chester) for the Renegade Craft Fair. I have never been and I wanted to know if it is any good... I am 17 so it is not very easy for me to get up there and no one around here likes this stuff enough to go with me. I guess I am asking:

1) is anyone else going? I dont want to be alone
2) If you have been, is it worth while
3) where do i stay in the brooklyn and not get shot
4) if anyone is willing to meet up I would be really excited... i understand though its an online thing is its a little sketchy...

Hey there, I hope the reply's not coming too late as the fair's this weekend. You needn't worry about staying overnight here if you can't do so- if you can get to a SEPTA train station, try and end up on the R7 line or any of the other lines that terminate in Trenton. There, you can take the Northeast Corridor NJ Transit line straight in to NY Penn Station. From there, take the blue subway line (any of them) going DOWNTOWN to the L on 14th street, and take the L to Bedford Ave. That'll take you a mere few blocks away (sorry if it sounds complex, it's not so bad and most people are helpful enough in the Big Apple once they realize you're not asking for money). There's also the Fung Wah bus lines but those are sort of sketchy, and I still don't know my way around Chinatown.

The entire area around where the craft fair takes place is now full of hipsters, so you don't have to worry about getting shot. It's at the edge of Williamsburg and Greenpoint, both friendlier neighborhoods with lots of Polish families and asymmetrical haircuts. I know many people who are going, and I'm sure if you strike up a conversation there'll be someone happy to show you around or at least point out the fun stuff in the area. As a bonus, there are lots of great coffee shops along Bedford, so you needn't worry about missing out on socializing in bars. Hope that helps. If you've any more specific queries, let me know.

For the record, I would like to say that people don't walk around Brooklyn dodging bullets or donning bullet proof vests.  I've lived here my whole life and only been shot a couple of times.
