okay, sorry for the dramatic title and icon..but i have been looking for this mix FOREVER!! and i know its only sold in Germany. A few years ago my step sister came to visit me from Germany, and she had her mother send her a "box of goodies" and she would cook for me here and there. Well anyways, i cant seem to get ahold of my sister (1 year now) and i really want to know what this stuff was. Im going to describe it.

It was kind of like an instant gravy mix, i could SWEAR that the package was green but im not sure. its creamy white gravy and you make it with pork and peas.

i looked up and could it be knorr? but if it is the package is orange..someone please help!!

Hey!! I can definately check for you!  I'm stationed in Germany right now.  It is Knorr, and I'll check to see if I can find it for you...if you don't mind, give me til Monday cause this is a mini shopping weekend and I'll be hitting a few stores (better coverage for you!)

Sorry I'm  retarded and didn't get back to you sooner!  My car had to go to the dr's last weekend (flying rock+windshied+autobahn driving=BIG crack) so I didn't get to look for you Sad  But tomorrow I'm headed to Frankfurt so I'll check.

The only green package I can think of is Knorr Sauce Hollandaise. You can check out a picture at knorr.de -> Knorr Produktwelt -> Knorr Saucen -> Knorr Feinschmecker Saucen

However, you might have simply had what's called Helle Soe in Germany, a generic white gravy that's sold by a whole bunch of brands.

Can you give me a more detailed description? (Ha ha, I sound like Eliza: Can you elaborate on that?)

Did you add only water, or butter as well?

Side note: I DO hope someone finds that mix for you, cause I can relate: I had the most amazing beef jerky that was wrapped up like candy while travelling in China. I threw away the wrapping, and when I got to the next store, turns out they have a gazillion different brands. Most of them taste nasty. Never found it again... Sad

well im not quite sure, darn, i know that you added water for sure, i dont know about the butter.

it was creamy white and delish! she said that it was a common meal in germany. just pork, peas and that mix i think i dont know if it had rice or that was just on the side but pork and peas for sure

Sorry, manda, I can't think of any German meal that contains pork, peas and white gravy. Maybe it's something so basic that I'm thinking right past it!

I'll keep thinking about it, though, and if I come up with anything I'll tell you. And like cadillac.tramp I'll keep my eyes open at the stores. Who knows!

i think i did see something like this when i was in Munich.  but i can't be sure... i'll try to talk with my German professor about this, he would probably be about to recall it.
