Definitely they're moving to Porter Square and will be closed in early July, but definitely check them out!

How very, very odd...part of my reply got cut off.  What'd I'd originally said was "Definitely Spark Crafts http://sparkcrafts.com. One caveat being that they're moving to Porter....."

Neither Joanne's nor the bead shop are moving as far as I know

My favorite "craft" resource in Boston is the Children's Museum's Recycle Shop.  (http://www.bostonchildrensmuseum.org) They get the coolest stuff from businesses and manufacturers.  Some items are priced by piece.  I remember Monopoly pieces that I think were a quarter each.  Other stuff, you buy a large grocery brown back and stuff to your heart's content.

Some things I've seen there over time:
paper/rubber/tubing/sponges/bottles/buttons/pins/ends of paint rollers/thick cardboard of various shapes/beads/leather/cards/plastics/boxes

It's actually been forever since I've been there but I love it and always want to go back.

And, though the museum is cool, if you just want to go to the store, I just tell them at the entrance that I'm going just to the store and they've never made me pay admission.  Which just means more to spend in the store!

I know July has come and gone, but for anyone else who may be coming there are 2 stores in Central Square that have a small array of crafty stuff:

Artist & Craftsman

Cambridge, MA 02139

and Pearl Paint, which is right across the street.
The selection at Pearl is better, but Artist & Craftsman is a funky shop.
