I just had to try my hand at shirring.  It is easy, but takes for.ev.er.  I might never do it again!  I do love my little dress, though....

I just took an A-line skirt that I had, extended the top straight up, and added the ruffle to the bottom.  My mom helped me (which is why it is a finished dress instead of sitting in my studio waiting to be done!).

Pics.

Here's the front.

Here's the back.

Here's a close-up of the shirring.

It is the perfect thing to wear on a sunny day!

So cute!  I love the fabric, and the ruffle down at the bottom adds so much.  Great job!

So cute. Really fab job. I know all about how long the shirring takes, but the end result is so great, it almost begs you to do it again. Almost, lol.

your dressis beautiful. Im trying tomake a shirred top as my first sewed items! Unfortunately my machine is older than me (just!) - 1976- and you have to turn a handle which keeps getting stuck and my elastic gets all caught up. oh well ill keep perserving - or save up for an electric sewing machine!
