Star Crayons!

the way i did these was even more fun than the muffin crayons. i got one of those cheapie shape ice trays from ikea...i separated all of the crayons by color and melted them by color. i poured one layer of one color and let it cool...then i took the next layer of color and poured it on the already cooled first layer. after that i popped the whole thing in the freezer and they came out easy peasy. the kids freaked out [mom had a playgroup over that day] and again great for little hands and the cool layered effect is awesome.

hahaha right!! i thought the same thing...i was like hrmmm i could make all KINDS of crayons if i get a bunch of those trays... a few boxes of dollar store crayons and a bunch of ikea trays and you are good to go! i like melting things so this is right up my alley plus the kids love it and the moms think im some crafting genuis!

This is great. My son brought home his stuff from school (last day today!) and all his crayons are of course, broken. I shall melt them and make cute shapes for them to use. My 4 year old will love it!

Love this idea!  The cool thing about a star shape of course is instead of one sharp point to draw with, you have FIVE!!!

That's so much easier than what I used to do...
When I was about 10, I had a HUGE bucket full of misc. crayons...so I sorted them out into colour groups and melted them in the microwave (NOT good for the nuker!) in a Pyrex dish and poured the melted wax into a metal cookie cutter placed on wax paper.  It was fun, I made crayon shapes for gift baskets, and you could theme them.  But I gotta remember this idea, My son's 2yr b-day is around the corner and this'd be GREAT for a gift bag!
