Hi everyone.I'm  in need of a little help.I read a article about making rosary beads out of rose petals. It seems you put the rose petals, and some other ingredients into a blender.Mix together into a soft dough of some sort. Then roll into beads pierce with a needle or something sharp to make the hole.Let dry and string together to make a rosary. What really caught my eye was it said if you wear the beads the heat of your body would make the scent of roses be released into the air.
Does anyone have the directions or can help me.The way the article talked this was done years and years ago in abbys and cloisters. Can anyone help Huh Huh Huh.I'm really interested in finding out how to do this. Thanks for any help you can give me. Grin

Pull off the little bits of white at the base of the rose petals, put the petals in a non netal pan (the key between n and , is stuck so bear with  the on purpose spelling errors Smiley ) for dark red beads or an iron pan for black beads with a bit of water and cook down until a sort of dough forns, roll into balls and dry the beads strung onto a wire or needle.  I will go find these instructions and let you know if I forgot anything.

I visited this studio earlier this year.

The artist told me a little about the process. Apparently there are several stages of cooking the petals down. Then they shape the beads and let them dry. Once they are done they are black and matte, but the artist said that over time they absorb your body oils and become shiny to look like onyx.

I know I have seen instructions for doing this at home, like in an old Bead & Button. I'll have to look for it!

I found it. The directions both for how to make the rose beads and how to make a rosary are in the August 1998 Bead & Button. Let me know (pm) if you need them and I will scan the pages to pdf and e-mail them to you.
