I was told about the need for toys at the local battered women's shelter. I made a few octopi because they are fast and easy and helped me lighten my stash a bit. I hope they help the kids who have to live at the shelter.

Here are the ones I've made so far..

They're really cute, and for a good cause, too!

thanks for sharing!

I would love to do some personal swaps.
I'm looking for handmade soaps, jewelry, and knit legwarmers/socks.

The faces on your project are very expressive.  I am sure they
will be appreciated by the people that receive them.

Those are really cute! They made me smile! What a great cause too! They will definitely love them!

How'd you make them? I would like to make some for my little cousins.

They are very easy to make.
I will write the directions for you. Check back soon.

Here ya go WIP's....
Wrap yarn 96 times around anything that is about 16" long (I used a piece of tile, but a book or cardboard will work too).
Tie a piece of yarn around one end and slip it off the tile.
Tie another piece of yarn an inch or so under the first piece of yarn (this determines how long the hair will be).
Clip the loops at the opposite end.
Put a strofoam ball inside the strings of yarn up under the area where it is tied.
Smooth the yarn around the ball and tie another piece of yarn under the the ball (head).
Divide the yarn hanging off the head into eight sections. Braid each section and tie the bottom with yarn (these are now legs).
Hot glue a felt face and give it a bow around the neck.
Take out the very first piece of yarn you tied on the top and clip those loops. This will give it some cool hair.

These instructions might sound confusing. If you need me to clear anything up, just ask. No kidding tho....it really is easy to make.
