There isn't too much more you can do now. Smiley  If you have friends that you think would enjoy a new board such as this, PM them and ask them to post their "vote" here.

Leah and I monitor all request threads and install new features/boards when we feel it's a fairly popular request.

ok, thanks. buts i still have a question, lets say we get a lot of participants and finally the board is made.. could we be able to talk in Spanish inside the board? sometimes I have a hard time trying to understand a pattern or an instruction made in English, since is not my first language, and i don't know all the crafts terms in English. so, could i be able to ask for help in spanish? or only English?

Well, City Guide boards aren't focused on general craft discussion.  They are for thrift stores, craft stores, crafty happenings, etc. local to the area.  They're also to discuss local/regional happenings such as events, meetups, craft fairs and those sorts of things.  If you have questions about a pattern or instruction in English, you can post them on the main boards.

It's best to stick to English on the City Guide boards as well because they serve as wonderful information centers for those who are travelling to your area.  Our admin and moderators need to be able to understand what it being discussed on the threads as well.

If there's something you can't figure out how to communicate well in English, I don't think it would be a problem to post it in another language or try to post it in both languages.  Just do the best that you can.  Everyone is pretty understanding. Smiley  Posting solely in another language shouldn't be common practice on Craftster, though.

I agree that it is easier/clearer to get thoughts out first in the language in which we think, and then translate it. Other bilingual people could look at both and clarify the English-version if necessary. I think that if you can't find the word or phrase you need in English, and there are people who speak your first language here who could help, you need to be able to ask the question in your language to get the right answer.

I do think there should be a particular place/board/thread for this, rather than having multiple languages pop up in the middle of threads. I think art/craft Spanish language translations could be a "sticky-note" thread in the Latin American City Guides board. I think that would be of interest to lots of people, for various purposes.

I'm going to see if there's been discussion about this for Asian or European languages, since they already have City Guides boards...We need a crafty speaker-of-multiple-languages (is that what a "polyglot" is?)!
