I'm a bit of a grammar geek, so if my screen name were egregiously misspelled, I'd want to know. I also am a poor typist, so I know that I do misspell a lot of things, and probably don't catch all my mistakes. I can't seem to type "thanks" correctly the first time, ever. It's always "thnaks". Cheesy

I try not to expect perfection in others, since I'm not perfect, but of course I do like to see people put some effort into their grammar, just because it make their posts more readable. Imperfection is okay, as long as I can easily make out the gist of what you are saying. However, if there are so many mistakes in your post that I have to slllllowwww down my reading to try to figure out what is being said, I'll probably end up scrolling past your posts. Just my two bits.  Smiley

After this post got so big, I decided not to- I'd feel bad being the focus of debate AND being called out on my misspelled name. Maybe at some later point...

I'm into spelling but I'm not crazy about it. It's not a big deal to me and I think sometimes people get scared to post because of this.

Sorry to bump this thread, but wanted to insert the updated procedure for username changes.

Effective 9/26/07, please submit username change requests via the Help Desk (http://www.craftster.org/helpdesk) and not PM to Leah.

I get the feeling that this is about my username.   Smiley  It is intentional.  There's a story behind it.  It isn't interesting, funny or anything.  I was just making a UJournal account (back before LiveJournal became popular) and was typing whilst having a conversation.  I thought it was funny, since I am a stickler for spelling and almost went to the National Spelling Bee (no joke!), so I kept it.  Is my username on almost all boards I am a member of.  It is my identity, and I have no intention of changing it any time soon.

I think that if someone's username is misspelled, there is probably a reason for it.  I also think that everyone should get the little Firefox add-on thingamajig that underlines mistakes.  That thing is quite handy for a crappy typist like me.   Cheesy
