I just made these two nights ago for my sister's friend! I still have to make a strap though. I was wondering if baby's feet were that small too...

Oh and I used some super fluffy soft yarn I found sitting around the house. It's soft. Smiley

This next pair, I'm making without the strap or buttons- I'm all paranoid that my booties are going to kill a baby!

If I knit up another row or two in the short rows, that should turn it into more of a slipper-sock, right?

edit to add:

Update: I knit another pair this weekend, and added two extra rows (one purl and one knit) to the short rows, and it seems perfectly shaped to be a slipper sock for baby!

I'm still not sure what I did, but I like the results (sorry the pic is crappy -- I can never wait for daylight).

If you're talking about mine, thanks! The "buttons" are big glass beads. They look really cute, but, it turns out, will not hold the little strap in place. After reading through the rest of this thread, I think I'm going to just sew the straps in place. The beads are secure, so they might just stay.

Wow, I love everyone's!  I was a little put off by the photo in the book, because I thought the colors were kind of ugly and the buttons didn't go... However, after seeing all the awesome ideas here, I will definitely have to make some for the many babies I know.

My problem is I have no idea what the baby sizes are! I just finished a black pair that I think are adorable. I'd be willing to do it for a trade, but need some idea about what the finished dimensions should be.

My, ahem, FOUR-hour baby booties:

with creeper modifications

And a question for ya'll: what did you use to fasten on the buttons nice and tight? Did you sew them on with regular thread? Mine are hanging by a string right now, and I need to fix 'em before I gift 'em. And yes, those are tiny little T-rexes! I can't even stand how cute they are!!
