the booties are so cute!!

what could you use besides buttons??

i know that babies of that size haven't found their feet yet but it still makes me nervous.

I would think velco would work or put elastic in the strap so they just slip on....

If you use a yarn with touch of give and knit the strap a smitdg longer you could simply secure it and skip the button.  Or make the strap with elastic knitted into it.................

I used  Bernat Solo  Nouveau in Lichen - it's a really neat variegated acrylic yarn. Glad you like it!

That was easy!  I love this pattern so much.

Sorry about the crappy quality of the photos.

Thanks for the tip, booglass.  I just took your advice and made the crocheted strap loose and a little longer so it would have some give so I wouldn't have to attach buttons.  They're not as cute as all the booties here that do have buttons on them but I think these have their own personal charm nonetheless.

my mom's coworker just had a baby on christmas eve, but the baby is premature (i think she weighs somewhere around 4 oz.) so i think i will make some of these on 7's or even 6's. also, the baby's name is Grace, just like mine, so i  might get some letter buttons, or put G's on the toes.
