Ok, so they might be a little bit white pleather wearing, Country and Western singer-ish, but I think they're hippie. With the right LZ or Burrito Brothers t-shirt...

I guess I could have used the Peyote stitch to keep in line with the Native American theme but I don't think it would have sat right.

They are very pretty.
This is brick stitch, right?

How do you work out your patterns?
Do you draw them out on grid/graph paper, or is there a computer program available (that can streamline the process) that I don't know about?

Yeah, brick stitch. That one isn't my pattern. I don't usually use gird or graph paper but you can find the blank charts on beading websites. If it's a pattern with a shape, like the buffalo earrings I'll draw it first but if it's just a colour pattern it's just trial and error.

Thanks.

I do my patterns the old fashioned way--coloring in a grid. I do have a program that I can design and print graphs and grids with. It still takes trial and error.

Hey Gallstones (Gallstones!! Hahaha! Sounds like an insult. Like something you'd call a relative who spends ages in the bathroom)...

Anyway, um, oh yeah, I just made another pair of earrings but these ones I designed on graph paper first. I even had to write myself instructions so I didn't get lost!! I'm gonna post them now under the title "Orange, yellow, and white 70's style Peyote tube seed bead earrings" (as you can see I like to try and give accurate titles). Thanks for getting me back into using graph paper, Gallstones!

No problem, you are most welcome. I am pleased to find that I have inspired you.

Gallstones actually comes about because I spend a lot of time reading and posting on political blogs, where I metaphorically "throw" (verbal) gall stones.
Gall = rancor, boldness, impudent and audacity.

I like the play on words.
