Details of swap:

Basically, you will decorate a 40 matchstick size matchbox, then fill it with craft supplies.

Right now, we are discussing filling the matchbox, emptying and spreading the goods flat, and sending the matchbox itself flattened for those in countries outside the US.

We fill the matchbox with crafting supplies. That said, you don't unload your "junk" into a box. Try to send stuff that you'd WANT to receive yourself. I know, 'one person's junk is another person's treasures' but only taking it so far.

Here's how I've done it: I start with some stickers & special papers, about 1/8" to 1/4" thick, then I find "special" buttons, special beads, special charms. (Yes I do purchase the special things.) Then I find some especially cheap seed beads and fill the gaps. LOL.

Others have sent seashells, needles, zippers, trims, ATC scrap papers, charms, findings, and so many "craft" supplies that I didn't even think of. That's been really great.

Decoration of the matchbox is limited to only your imagination.

Size of matchbox: must hold 40 small (1 inch/2.5cm) matches or more.
The usual ones you find of this size in the U.S. are....
....in inches:  2-1/16 x 1-1/4 x 1/2
....in centimeters: 5.2 x 3.5 x 1.3

But different countries have different sizes, so you don't need to be exact. 

Here is my template, I have to correct the smaller box, so please ignore that one. I'll post in the discussion when I've corrected it.

Okay this is new discussion thread for filling a matchbox swap.

Here's my first idea, tell me how you all feel about it:

For sending abroad, especially for Canadians, you can send an un-glued inside box and flatten outer box. This will make a flatter package. evidently, it is the thickness that is causing some problems.

What do you all think?

I hope I get feedback on at least one of my swaps! I want to join this, I have some cool ideas of what to put into a matchbox.  I also like the idea of mailing out of the USA with a flat non finished box to cut back on postage.  I even printed out the large matchbox template and made one at work a few minutes ago.  Not the best, but I think with practise it will be doable!
