This is very exciting! I've never swapped before... specially because mailing was too expensive (I live in Peru) but I'm joining this one! I'm already thinking about all the stuff I want to put in my matchbox!

It's both fun , I can tell you! In round 2 I asked my partners what they'd like for colors & style and such and I hand painted the boxes. Now I just decorated the way I like it and I think they came out great. Now I only have to ask who likes which color best. Still trying to figure out how to do it if two people like the same color though?  Huh

I can't wait for send-outs, I decorated my boxes already  Grin Roll Eyes
I really love this swap!  Kiss

woah the swap hasnt technically started and i already feel behind. I love the enthusiasm though. I think i might do some partner stalkng and see if i can come up with anything. Otherise it might just be a cool free fall

I'm thinking that this will be my first swap, but just want to clarify one of the requirements.

Do participants send one matchbox to one person or is it three boxes to three different people?

I want to make sure that matchboxes can be purchased or made with one of the templates.

thanks.  catdaddytn

I just sent in my info after getting a swap slot open!! I keep saying to myself no more swaps until I am finished with them all, but I can't help myself!  Especially since I have to get 2 of the ones put into the mail.  Now to scope out the crafty stuff tonight while working. My part time job is at Michaels arts and crafts so I drool over all the supplies..  I did purchase a bunch of neat papers last weekend..

Question?   What type of paper is best to use to make the matchboxes? Cardstock or regular?  I have some pretty stuff in both types.

catdaddytn, we send to three different people, and three different people will send to you.

Yes, your choice, buy them or make them. Last swap dragonslair made a double matchbox, like a set of drawers. So if you only can find 10-20 matches in a box (or you pick up matches from a restaurant, or someplace) that is too small, you might want to do something similar.

If you do a search, there are matchbox "books" where you put 4 or 5 matchboxes together and create a book cover for it. You'd be surprised at the things you can do with a matchbox!

christinacoghill, I would have said, "cardstock only" until after I received in the last round. sk8grll sent me the nicest box, made from the template out of paper! For the outside, slip-on cover, she doubled the paper and made a lining. (wrong sides glued together, then folded as directed.)

It is still one of my most favorite boxes of both rounds!

BTW, I made pendants out of some of the prettier ones.

I made a list of all the bits and pieces that could be packed in a matchbox and was just about to get going when I thought it would be a better idea to actually send in my info first  Roll Eyes

This is just the kind of swap I've been looking for  Grin

I've updated the approved swappers page.

Please help me out by:
  • looking at first page to see that you are listed.
  • check your own profile to see that you are in progress.

WE are up to 17 swappers! And all over the world, how cool is that?

Saturday is the last day to signup! Don't forget!
