Has anyone here ever tried making felted costume masks? I saw one in the exhibition space at MD Sheep and Wool a few years ago, and i've been thinking about it since then, i know i'm going to try one, but i was just wondering if anyone here and made one and/or had any advice?

Have you done a search for mask in the felting completed board?  Go to the Felting Completed Projects, type -  mask  - into the box and select - current board only - from the pull down menu.

There are several masks that have been shared in the past.  One is a decorative mask and one a protective mask.  The other a sleep mask and not at all what you are looking to find.

hmm. i did run a search through all the forums and the only thing i had found remotely like what i was thinking of was a felted welding mask, which while interesting, was not exactly they type of thing i was thinking of. i will try again though in just the completed projects. still, if anyone has any inspiration or ideas, i'd love to hear it.

A lady in our weavers guild did a felt mask- it was more of a wall hanging though. She made a flat peice of felt and while it was still wet formed the nose, lips, and eyes. I would like to try one by making a flat peice of felt and then draping it on some sort of face form and letting it dry. Unfortunatly my facial cast is a bit of a mess now (plaster spill!) and I really have yet to figure out how to waterproof it aside from the obvious saran wrap.....
