That's very clever at the back!

Did you follow a pattern???

Thanks, everyone!   Grin  I'm excited to try it again.  I really want to perfect the whole applique thing, so I can do more intricate patterns.

does anyone have advice on ways to make it easier?

Hi this is Weeza.  I changed my name to mushter.  I'm so honored you used my tut.  Your dress is gorgeous!  I have a bunch of tips for applique.  Give me a day or two and I'll post them for you.

Hi!  Sorry for the delay.  I haven't been on in a while.

Veronica:  I just used mushter/weezer's instructions.  The link is in the original post.  Very clear instructions.  The back was actually the easiest part!  All you do is make a couple of loops and sew them in between the bodice and lining, then make two really long ties and attach them to the front and thread them through the loops on the back.  Totally easy.  My only issue with the straps is that when you're putting it on, it's hard to get the shoulders secure without getting the back too tight.  It helps to have a friend lend a hand.  Grin

mushter:  OMG!  You freakin' ROCK!  If you had ANY idea how many hours I have spent pouring over the internet searching for instructions on how to make hippie clothes, you would know that you are totally my hero!  Cheesy  I haven't had a chance to check to see if you've posted the applique stuff yet, but I'm looking forward to hearing your ideas.  Someone else gave me a great tip on getting the fabric folded back.  It's freakin AMAZING!  Put down a piece of tin foil then lay your fabric face down on top of it and put your cardstock cutout on top, then carefully fold the tin foil around the cutoutand iron on both sides.  The edges are beautiful!  Crisp as hell.  SO much better than the turn under as you go method.

Everyone else: thanks so much!  I can't wait to make another one.  I just make an apron top out of similar fabric.  I'll try to post a pick in the next couple of days.

I forgot all about the applique tips Embarrassed Oops.  Anyways I found the post that I used for directions: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=76089.0.  Seaofstars has great instructions even though some of the pics don't work anymore.  I'm not sure if you've used WonderUnder yet, but it is amazing.  I actually use Steam-a-seam2.  Its pretty much the same thing.  You can get both at your local sewing store.  Hope that helps.  Let me know if you have any questions.
