Picture this:  it's late Saturday night when I remember that my kiddos have a birthday party to attend on Sunday morning.  Here are my options:

a) Midnight Walmart run

b) Midnight craft binge

c) skip the party altogether.

Needless to say, the correct answer is always b.  Here's the result, made of a recycled pair of jeans and some other goodies from my stash:

Best of all, I got to stay in my pj's, and didn't spend a cent!

Very nice! How wide did you make the channels? I'd love to make something like this for my kids.

Um, I was very, very scientific about the whole process:  I stuck the crayon in the pocket, then sewed.  I left them in place as I went along, and I actually managed to get 23 of the 24 crayons in the the pack to fit. Smiley

That's a super cute gift for a 2 yo.  And cheap midnight crafting in your pj's is possibly the funnest thing ever. Especially if you have a big supply of chocolate on hand!

Darn it!  I forgot the chocolate!  Guess I'll have to try again (which is a good thing, since each of my kids has requested one...)!  Must...have...Phish Food!

Thanks for the feedback...

That is so cute!  Just this afternoon I was trying to remember a similar item I saw at a toy store in Minneapolis.  My sister and I almost bought one just to have the pattern on hand, but of course we were sure we would remember how it was made, and of course I totally forgot.

So . . . anyway, how did you make it?  I know my son and his cousins would love one of those.
