I've been a good girl lately, using up alot of my stash, and would like to reward myself with some new yarns. What are everyones faves? Both affordable and luxury.

cheap-o yarn: Lion Brand's Wool Ease Worsted

luxury: Malabrigo Kettle Dyed or Variegated,  Araucania Pomaire, Misti Alpaca Suri Silk, Filatura Di Crosa Porto Cervo print.

disappointments: Reynold's Saucy Sport (it's beautiful but the "crimson" red is actually scarlet, and there's loads of knots!)
Plymouth Yarns baby alpaca brush (it wore my hands raw!), Patons SWS (itchy!!!!!!!!!)

Ohhh, I LOVE Suri Merino.

If you're a sock knitter (I'm a recent convert, I think), Tofutsies is really nice.

I knit a sweater out of Kathmandu Aran, and it might be my favorite yarn.  It's tweedy, 85% wool, 10% silk, and 5% cashmere.  It's $7 for 110 yards, so unless you're planning something huge, it doesn't break the bank terribly either Smiley

(oh and of course malabrigo)

All I've tried is Fun Fur, Red Heart, and Simply Soft so far, because I'm on a budget, and so far Simply Soft is the best! Grin

I don't know if I would consider it my favorite (there are sooo many I absolutely love), but I really like Cleckheaton Country Silk.

It's very yummy.

I've had really good experiences with Knitpicks yarn. I've used both Cotlin (cotton/linen blend) and Wool of the Andes (wool!), and they've held up well. I wash the Cotlin in the washing machine and it holds up fine. Both yarns are really affordable. I believe the WOTA is $1.99/skein and the Cotlin was $2.49/skein.

Ha!  I have a lot of "favorites"!  But here are some standouts:

Cotton:  King Tut.  Soft, lovely sheen, specatacular colors.

Wool:  Noro kureyon (actually ALL noro wool blends too), Zephyr Wool-Silk DK, Patons Merino, Cascade Bollicine (wool/acrylic blend)

Other:  Noro Lily, Noro Cash Iroha, Muench Sir Galli, Valley Yarns Goshen

"Workhorse" yarns:  TLC Cotton Plus, Paton's Shetland Chunky

This has to be the toughest question....
Top favs.... Koigu, Manos, Noro.  I also grabbed some great stuff at the Maryland Sheep & Wool festival.
For budget Lion Brand has some wool that actually is pretty good.
