Use for fun fur?

So, my problem is that I don't really like fun fur, or at least projects made entirely out of fun fur, yet when a couple Joann's were going out of business I bought up several dozen skeins at around $1 each. (My second problem would be an inability to pass up a sale). Does anybody have any ideas for ways of combining this stuff so it doesn't look like, well, fun fur?

Fun fur is best used in toys. It can be used as the actual fur.

i agree with wips. check our the lion brand site. you will have to sign up, but they have a lot of cute critters too. you could knit a teddy bear or something like that.

You could use it to add texture to a Rapunzel Scarf.

Ooh, thanks everyone, I've only ever made one critter, but I'm sure my nephews would enjoy more. And I love the scarf idea too. Also I might need to throw a few skeins in the package when I do swaps, haha!

Although they were a bit small....but I was freehanding it. The first time I did anything without a pattern....even a basic garter stitch scarf required a pattern for crying out loud!

But fuzzy balls are fun to play with. Wait...that sounds wrong

I totally understand your dislike.  My best friend wanted a scarf for Christmas made entirely of Fancy Fur (like Fun Fur with poofy colored balls added).  I did it and it's horrible to work with on it's own.  I called the scarf
"A Dead Muppet".   After that I didn't know if I would ever work with the few bits of Fun Fur that, like you, I had picked up on sale.  I ended up making a really basic scarf using 1 strand of Fun Fur and 1 of Lion Boucle held together that turned out nice.  The fur was a nice accent without being too furry.

Thanks Rerun, I need to do some projects like that I think! My friend knit me a scarf out of brown fun fur, she knows that's my fave color...but it really gave me the creeps (the feel/look of it) and I could never wear it. I felt bad because I know she spent some time on it, but....

did you see that post in completed projects of the faux fox wrap? That was cute.  It's on my list of projects to make with fun fur.  I also never work with fun fur without using another strand of yarn along with it.  It makes it so much easier to crochet because you can see the stitches better.
