for the non bottled, in store version most coffee shops use an ice cream base.  you can use vanilla ice cream and that would cover it.

also you can usually find an instant espresso powder at your local supermarket.

i love the mint chocolate bottled guys, but they have been pretty hard to find.  i was working in a coffee shop for awhile and would satisfy my cravings by making my own versions there.

But where's the coffee part?

The double chocolate chip frappuccino is a creme frappuccino. That means it has no coffee. The java chip has coffee in it.

Fyi, I always make add malt to my double choco chip. It was a specialty drink a few years back, but they usually have malt. Stupid starbucks in my area only have it during the winter season. But yeah, the malt in it makes it taste like your milk after dunking chocolate chip cookies. Very very good.

But I just made this, I'm not sure where I messed up, I can't taste exactly what's wrong with it... but something is. I'll just need to mess with it.

my blender doesn't have different speed settings (just a turbo button) so whenever I try and do this the ice doesn't end up right Sad
It either stays in little chunks or completely melts into water.. Sad
