I love to go to Goodwill for recons.  This one was a really bad dress from the 70's.  I'm so sorry I forgot to take a before picture before I chopped off the skirt, but I took a picture of the top part! Just imagine that there was shirring at the waistline, and a really long skirt.  I chopped off the skirt and made a top out of it, edging the top and the bottom with red jersey fabric I had lying around.  What do you guys think?

The top of the bad dress

The fabric....a bright cherry red with teeny weeny polka dots!

Thanks you guys!  I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.  Smiley  I just wish there was more fabric!

Oh my gosh that is so cute! Very flattering, too. And I will always hold a soft spot for polka dots. :.)

That just gave me warm fuzzies... but I did have to giggle a bit, because I only started seriously sewing (I did a couple of blankets and super easy things when I was a kid) around Christmas time.  All of what I've been making is trial and error.  I've junked a couple of failed projects, and that's just how you learn.  All the fabric I get is usually like, $1 or $2 a yard, so it was no big deal if it didn't come out right.  Just jump in and go for it!
