This is absolutely stunning - you did an amazing job!!  I love, love LOVE it!  The piping is AWESOME - thanks for letting us know about how much to use.

I'm new to making bags - can you tell me what you used for the zipper pulls and the straps - is that bias tape?  Like I said, I'm new, and I don't know what I'm looking for when I'm shopping...

Thanks for your help!

The zipper pull, I made myself using crochet cotton and a skull bead.  Just looped a couple of strands of crochet cotton threaded on a bead and knotted the cotton to keep the bead in place.

The straps are a lightweight cotton webbing.  Here's a link as to what it looks like close up:  http://www.wbcindustries.com/web_cotton.html  I think what I used is polyester though, not cotton.  I didn't like it at first because I didn't think it was sturdy enough but after using it, the webbing doesn't dig into your hands when carrying the bag.

I'm finally getting around to trying this bag (sort of).  My hubby asked me to make him a bag, but then he ended up changing the dimensions, and then he asked if it can have a flap over the front, like a messenger bag.  But I'm still using this basic pattern as my template and I'm totally using the piping.  I've just figured out today what all my fabric cuts should be, so I'm off to start cutting.  But thanks again, so much, for the tips with the interfacing & the piping, etc.  I can hardly wait to see how my bag comes out!
