This looks great.  Tribal stuff is really pricey.

Amazing. Im making a corset type belt. I really love yours .I have the same problem-not wanting to spend 70 dollars on one. How much did it cost you? Smiley

Thanks!  Ummm, I think it cost me, at this point, under $10.  I have some trim that I plan on using on the top edge, and some mirrors that I'm planning on shisha stitching on which will bring the cost up to $15-18-ish.  Still, it's much much cheaper that buying.  I have a fringe belt that I'm working on that has cost me 8 dollars in yarn, but it's not yet in usable condition (no way to tie it on).

wow...thats not bad at all.
I made a yarn belt out of some old yarn I got for free...it was beautiful...but it is all tangled up now & I dont havethe patience to undo it.
My dance partner & I finally started on our belts so hopefully they will get done soon.

Good luck on the new belts!  I just found at JoAnn's some really interesting trim for it, and I have the mirrors glued on just ready to be stitched.  I still need to get the ties on it, but since I'm not sure yet how I want it tied (I have a couple ideas floating around my head), I'm waiting.  Especially since I found out I'm pregnant, I'm going to need something uber-expandable.

Would love to see a picture of the whole outfit when it's done.
Sewing your own costume definitely saves money. It's crazy some of the prices of things out there.
And good luck on the new baby! I belly danced all through my 2 pregnancies. My little boys love the music even still. Smiley

I know!  The prices are crazy.  I can't justify spending 100 dollars on something that I can do myself, lol.
I think that I'm going to do something like this...(Marjhani always has beautiful outfits)

or

I like the look of the short vest over the long top, with all the lovely accoutrements that you can find to go with it.
