Let me start out by saying a huge THANKS to kitty1256 for all the help she gave me when I first started this quilt last fall.  Not only for the great tutorial but also for answering all my extra questions  Grin

This is the second of two quilts I was asked to make for my cousin's sons.  The majority of the material came from his late mother's stash and it's meant to be a keepsake reminder of the boys' grandma.

My original idea was to make an eye spy quilt but when I saw kitty1256's jar quilt, I knew I just had to incorporate the eye spy and jars together.

The little guy this was made for has Canadian parents but was born in the US so I had to include material from both countries.  Not sure if you can pick them out or not but there is one jar full of maple leaves and another full of the American flag.  There are also parrots, frogs, bugs, crayons, eyes, stars, fishing hooks, etc.

Two of my favorite jars:

and a few others:

Wow! Nicely done!

I'd been collecting some fabrics to make a bug jar quilt, but it kind of fell by the wayside. This makes me want to start the prowl for more fabulous buggy (and other critters) fabric!

And I love the fabric you used for the lids to the jars!

I couldn't believe when I saw that in the fabric store - it reminded me of the jar lids I had at home.  I made sure to buy lots because I have another jar quilt planned and wanted some for that too.

this is neat! it's funny--it reminds me of the teacup quilt i just posted in some ways, especially in that i had favorite teacups, and that the fabric for certain teacups came from specific places (like new orleans, toronto, montreal). i like the jar idea.
