i haven't posted any of my projects in ten thousand years. so here we go.

i made this dress for our snowflake ball. i picked the most horrific color combination i could find, drafted the pattern, etc. etc. i also made the giraffe print cropped jacket seen in the bottom picture as well as my date's flower thingy. butionare? butinere? i'm too lazy to go to dictionary.com and figure out for sure.

i got the cute lil lazy eye thing going on.

and the badass story to accompany this last picture:

so before this dance, we had a really nice dinner at my friend jonas' house. and we had such a nice time that we were a little late getting to the dance. the doors close at 8 and we arrived at 8:10 thinking nothing of it because a) jonas' mother had called to let the teachers know we would be late/we werent out drinking and b) we all had set up for the dance and had to be there because we're all student council members and it's mandatory for student council kids. so we go inside and as soon as we head towards the gym we get chased down by teachers/ the rent a cop man. long story short, we were thrown out of the dance and i got a special police escorting out because i had an 'attitude problem'. so we took that last picture, a bunch of our parents came down to the dance, bitched out the teachers and we got in for the last five minutes. the end.

more pictures!

The dress and hair are both awesome.  I always say as far as hair goes the higher the better.

It's so B-52's.  I have rarely been so jealous of another person.  It is great.

It's so B-52's.  I have rarely been so jealous of another person.  It is great.

yeah i totally loved the whole bee-hive idea and i actually took a pictures of the lady from the b-52's to the hair place when i got it done....the phone call my mom made to set up my appointment went something like:
mom: yes she'd like a beehive...no...not an updo....like...a beehive.....no she's not elderly......

i'm not going to lie- i have no idea how people used to do their hair like that on a regular basis back in the day. the lady who did my hair said they had never had a request for a beehive before and she never learned it in beauty school so it was all experimental.  i have really long and really really thick hair. so she just left the outer layer down and teased the middle part; then pinned the teased pieces in a cone shape and covered it with the outer hair. it was such a process and we kept having to redo it because i didn't have enough hair on the outside. to make this all ten billion times better, another girl from my school was two chairs away from me getting her updo done with little curls and flowers while my lady was teasing my hair out remarking that i looked like a cavewoman as i continued to urge her to make it even bigger....
yeah.
it's like that.

in the process:

and then taking it out afterwards ( three friends and a bottle of conditioner):

there's more obnoxious pictures of me being trashy with my rat's nest hair in the link under my first post.

I feel your stylists's pain!

I'm actually a hairdresser, and last summer, my mom, dad, and little sister went to a B-52's concert...well, my sister ALSO wanted a beehive. I beehived it much in the fashion that your stylist did it...

AND IT GOT HER BACKSTAGE.

I have skillz.

She was also mad at me when she had to take it out. Which was stupid because...I mean, come on. Its a beehive, you have a ton of hair...it needs to be held up SOMEHOW.

Great Story & I think you looked totally cute for an angry council member.  My Student Council would have never done that.  They woulda cried & gone home.  So hurrah for the meanies.

I love the orange and purple combination (I have always been partial to red and purple so perhaps I am a bit crazy).

I'm wondering though if you used a pattern for this dress?  I have recently seen two patterns I was thinking of trying with a casing/ribbon detailing (Vogue 8380 and Butterick 5425) and was curious if this might be one of those.

Excellent work by the way, you really should wear the dress again!
