Knitters/Fashionistas/Peeps:

I began knitting this without knowing that there was a mistake in the pattern (aka: why you should ALWAYS swatch):

See:

Anyway, it turns out that I need a smaller size yarn (grrrrrrr...), but before I go buy some, do y'all think I should knit it?  I'm wondering if it will be out of style so soon that it may not be worth the work...

Personally I love it - I think it over-rules fashion. It's essentially a staple piece of your wardrobe, a cute lightweight cardigan for chilly summer eveings.

Hey nillakitty!

I agree with april_cocaine - it is beyond fashion. It's style!

Personally, I don't see shrugs going away anytime this year or even into '08. The lace stitch pattern is low-key enough to add interest but not overwhelm. I say go for it, just be sure you love the color Smiley

Which Interweave book/mag is that from, I love it!  I personally think you should wear what you want to wear and not be dictated by "fashion." People will be impressed by it's beauty and craftsmanship, not thinking you're so five minutes ago.  Cheesy  That's a really pretty color too but maybe if you did it in a neutral it would make it even more timeless.

Shrugs and the like (aka bolero jackets, cropped jackets) have been around for decades.  Just because they are "in style" now, doesn't mean you will look "so last week" when they aren't as popular...I'll bet you could find a similar item in any upcoming season in some designer's collection.

GO FOR IT!!

That color is absolutely lovely, and the lace looks great with that yarn. I think you should go for it and try and make the necessary changes so it'll fit. It's really pretty!
