What a wonderful and meaningful gift!  I'm sure that child will treasure this for years.

This is grand!  What a great gift - you must feel proud of your success, too, and rightly so.  I'm thinking the star-bellies for your second.

Wouldn't it be cute, too, if you coordinated your squares so they had "spillover"?  Like in this one, one of the first square's fish could be swimming in the water in the far right square, and one of the Giving Tree fruits could be on the ground in the square below, etc.

SO fabulous.

luvvy
!!  Cheesy Grin  nee!
I LOVE this quilt so much! & the panels bring back alot of happy memories, too.

NEW SQUARES:
~please, include some A.A.Milne! The *real* Winnie The Pooh charachters. the original Owl would be adorable for anybody's quilt.
~maybe...Paddington Bear?
~something Maurice Sendak-- I know i'm on a roll for a theme here,but Little Bear too,possibly?

it seems like boys are okay with bears & possibly tough-seeming animals for when they get older. because if you have a security blankie, you may not want ubercute bunnies & kitties on it if you're to be dragging it everywhere you go...

First off - incredible quilt.  What a wonderful group of women you are.

If you're interested in including some contemporary choices, why not include The Pigeon from Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems, Olivia from her books by Ian Falconer, Charlie and Lola from the books by Lauren Child, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant from the books by David Snow...

There are so many wonderful choices!  Please show off your new project when its finished.

Wow, that's amazing!  Here are some of my kids favorites:

Goodnight moon - Margaret Wise Brown
Leonardo the Terrible Monster - Mo Willems
Make Way for Ducklings - Robert McClosky

Another great choice for a boy would be the Little Engine that Could

We have this version:

http://www.amazon.com/Little-Engine-That-Could-Oversize/dp/0399247106/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4/002-1094016-7981610?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1183314611&sr=8-4

And the illustrations are so so beautiful!

I'm in awe!  You have some serious talent--and love!  I'm not sure if these were already suggested, but...

-Anything Wanda Ga'ag
-Blueberries for Sal
-The Hungry Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear
-We're going on a bear hunt
-Ask Mr. Bear
-Each Peach Pear Plum!

The quilt is very beautiful.  The idea of making it from books is fantastic and I would be thrilled to pieces to receive such a lovely gift.
