I'm confused again...multicolor doesn't mean anything goes in respect to color? Instead you have several different monochromatic spreads in your book (a red spread, a green spread, a purple spread, etc)?

Hey there,

I just saw this thread and signed up.  Grin

I signed up for multicolour. I'm with kikigirl on colours. Strangely, I'm in a pink and orange mood too. If it were up to me, I think I'd say: pink, orange, turquoise, indigo, gold, white
but I'd be happy with alteredmommy's list too.

I would do muticolor too if it was bright colors like lime, orange, turquoise, and fuschia. As long as it wasn't rainbow.

Oh, I have a dumb question. The pages are 5" by 6" with a 1 " margin on alternating sides. That means 5" wide by 6" tall? So that the working area is 4" wide by 6" tall (and not the other way around)? Or the margin isn't in addition to these dimensions is it?

OK, that was several questions.  Smiley

Oh, here's a thought, maybe the mulitcoloured people would like to simply give some guidance to partners. For instance, someone who selected multicolour might choose "brights" or "earth tones" or "rainbow" or whatever? Does that help? That way we needn't be uniform, and yet partners are give some hint.

I'm just letting all the complicated stuff kinda fly by me at this point, in hopes that it'll all be resolved by the time we get assigned our groups and I can just follow orders...my brain isn't up to thinking too much these days Cheesy

I hope I'm not stepping on Alteredmommy's toes here.  I made a little graphic of how I understand the size of the pages.  I think this is right, but I hope AM confirms that before anyone takes it as gospel.

This is a 2-page spread, which means you are making 2 separate pages that work together.  You put your art on the front side of these two pages.  The journal owner will either bind them together with all the other spreads she receives or paste them into an existing journal.  The two pages will be facing each other once they are bound or pasted.  The pages are oriented as shown in the graphic, with the longer side across the bottom.

As for size, A=5 inches, B=5 inches, and C=1 inch, making the paper (or whatever base you choose) 5 inches (side A) by 6 inches (side B+C).

C is the part that the journal owner will use for binding. If the journal owner is pasting their pages into another book or journal, she will cut C off entirely, so while you can color it or bleed your design into that area, you shouldn't make it a major part of your spread.  Your working area is the 5x5 inch area defined by A and B.

And just for the sake of clarity -- the dotted line is just for illustration, you don't need to draw it on your page.  The journal owner will measure.

Edited to add metric conversions:
6 inches = 15.2 cm
5 inches = 12.7 cm
1 inch = 2.5 cm

Thanks Katxena- That's exactly what I pictured. If Alteredmommy can just confirm the selected sizes for A and B, then I'll be certain.

Sorry.  Undecided I think I had better stop thinking now.  Wink
