I decorated it myself on a small budget and a lot of creativity and bargian hunting!
Here is a before and after picture of my living room.

and after

Note the empty picture frames. Just moved in and didn't get to that yet, hehe. My foyer...

The "bar" is actually two 12 dollars shelves from Ikea, and the mirrors were 4 for 10 dollars. I sanded and finished the serving cart myself!
(I scrapped the red throw rug, this is when we first moved in and things were still a mess and not finished.)

I love this apt. It's in a gorgeous pre-WWII building.
What do you think?

PS: After lurking for awhile, this is my first post!

Looks great!  I like the mirrors, I think they really make the area look larger.

Good job!

OMG I love it!  You have the greatest little apartment in NYC!  I bet you are on cloud nine, I sure as heck would be.  You have a good eye for decorating and I LOVE the bar!

The bar is a really nice touch. I'm totally curious about the railings though - any idea if they serve(d) a purpose at all, or just decorative?

The bar was a great idea... It's like a custom bar for a lot cheaper. Good thinking!

The railings are common in pre-war buildings and are basically decorative. They're original from the late 30's in my building, my super tells me. Smiley
