That is a super impressive kool-aid dye job!!! This may be a dumb question, but how do you care for your dyed item afterwards?

Thanks everyone. Zzjulia, caring for the kool aid dyed item is easy: just hand wash as you would any wool handknit. The color sets permanently b/c of all the acid in the kool aid.

I've felted kool aid dyed knits and didn't experience any noticeable fading--even with the hot washes in the machine, etc.  Once you dye with kool aid, chances are you'll never drink it again--the permanence of the dye is pretty freaky.

Looking at it this morning I realized the photo isn't exactly an exact representation of the hat.  In person, the colors are much more subtle.

EEp! if kool aid acid makes it permanent, I wonder what it does to our insides! haha.... I just love the hat, amobabe! It actually looks edible!

Amobabe - after I saw your beautiful hat, I started reading the Dye with KoolAid tutorial.  Sounds so fun, and yes, I am now a little scared to drink that stuff the next time I go to a kid party.  Grin

she has a ton of nice yarn at good prices. I'm going to have to stop looking before I spend too much

Oh I'm so excited, now I don't have to go to the snotty LYS to get this yarn

How did you get free shipping from her? I chose three balls before I realized shipping would be $10!

Legwarmers!!!

I used Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in a grey color and Rowan Kidsilk Haze in a pale blue color. I made the pattern a little shorter because I'm only 5'2", and it took 1 skein of each. If you are making them for a taller person, you'll need two skeins of each.
