Thank you so much for trying to explain.. unfortunately, I'm still lost..  Embarrassed

Do you knit 30 onto the front side of  the body, then 10 onto the stitches that were held onto the stitch holder, and then the other 30 on the backside?  I'm going to give it another try.  Lately, I just transferred the sleeve to dpns so that I could start sleeve 2.

Geez, I know I'm going to just slap myself when I finally figure this out!  Angry

Let's see... does this help?

Where it says "knit here," you're going to grab the right needle and the left needle and start knitting as if you were working with one set of needles instead of two.  Eventually, all the sleeve stitches will be on the right hand needle of the larger circular, then your 12" is free and you just knit the back stitches on the larger circular like normal.  It doesn't really make sense until you do it.  I know that isn't too helpful but it's true!

If you're still confused, you should join the knit along at www.hourglass-knit-a-long.blogspot.com;  someone there probably has a photo or can explain it in a comprehensible way!

Thank you so much for the diagram.  It's becoming more clear to me now.  I was doing it right, but the line of decreases on the sleeve confused me.  I think it lines up toward the back instead of under the arm going down.  Unless I'm starting it out wrong.  I'm starting at the beginning of a row on the sleeve.  I don't have 10 stitches from the sleeve on a marker either.. just 2 sets of 10 on each side of the body.  Should I have stitches set aside on the sleeve portion?  .. runs to reread the pattern for the 312th time. hehe

I'm so sorry to be such a pain about this!  I did put in a comment to join the KAL on blogspot, but haven't recieved any notification on whether I'm really in or not.  I couldn't find a way to post a new topic to ask all my questions.

Yup, you should have 10 stitches on a stitch marker for the sleeve as well.  The pattern is confusing...

Check the third full paragraph under "Sleeves."  After you knit to 18 1/2 inches, it says "On the next round, k5, places the last 10 stitches just worked on a stitch holder, removing the marker.  Knit to end."

After that, then set up your needles accordng to the diagram and start knitting.  I think, I'm not positive, that you'll start with what was the last stitch on the sleeve.

THANK YOU!!!  I finally accomplished adding that sleeve on!  I couldn't have done it without you, Jessica!  Now that I understand that, I see how I can make the neckline smaller as well!  You are the greatest!

I too took on the child placket-neck sweater.  After the join, it became a fiasco, but I have found a blog with their suggested revisions, in addition to reading the purlsoho corrections, frogged and hoped to be finished soon!!!

Here's the blog with a cute photo of her finished project:

wish I could say that purple one was mine...that's the one that I'm hoping mine turns out like after using her corrections to the pattern!  Having never done raglan before, I couldn't put my finger on what exactly was going wrong while I was knitting!!!
