Anyone on here from the upstate? I was hoping to find some craftsters in my area. I'd love to have someone to chat with about events, sales, shopping, and just crafts in general.

I live in the Powdersville/Easley area. Greenville is very close too.

I don't personally know of any jsut yarn stores, but hobby lobby, micheals and hancock fabrics all sell yarn as do many of the walmarts around here. For the nicer stuff I've found it at hobby lobby or micheals.

There used to be a fabulous knitting/spinning shop in Greer. I have no idea what happened to it- went up one day, and they were just gone.

However, if you don't mind the drive, the Janome (sewing machine) dealer in Anderson has the nicest quilt shop, and the whole upstairs is yarn- and we are talking NICE yarn!  It's like... heaven.

I know that it has been a while with this thread but...Still have no idea where Anderson is and I did find a nice local knitting store in the Greenville area: The Needle Tree. It reminds me of the local store in Charleston, SC. and has tons of great finds.

You should only be about 30 minutes from me then. Maybe less depending on traffic.
I crochet as well! and I'm currently unemployed and looking for things to do.

I live in Boiling Springs, and theres a nice little fabric store here, though they haven't ordered any new fabric since before I was born. XD I swear every time I go in there I find a piece of fabric my grandma used to make my clothes when I was little.

Whoa you're less than 10 minutes away from me! I went to Boiling Springs schools my whole life and only moved out of the town a few years ago

I'm in Wellford, exit 68 off of I-85.

Are you talking about the one near the middle school? That place is a little hard to navigate and some of the fabric is a bit smelly but if you look hard enough you get lucky sometimes lol

I've talked to a few friends about getting together maybe monthly for some kind of themed crafty fun (ex. beading/jewelry, crochet/knitting, sewing/quilting) and if you don't know the particular craft then it would be awesome to get together and learn!

And no, Eliea isn't crazy but she is super fun to hang around!

There's a new bead store in Spartanburg, Robin's Bead Nest. Anyone been there yet?

It looks smallish but really neat. I'm planning to go in sometime this week (probably a mistake...I can't go in a bead store without buying something...)

I live in Spartanburg and would love to meet up with some other crafters.  I do all kinds of crafts.  Lately I have been doing embroidery most but have done what seems like a little of everything at one time or another.  It would be fun to have a group to do a craft of the month with little things like marble magnets, shrinky dinks, small embroidery, card-making, etc, like someone else mentioned a while back.  PM me if you are interested.
