I though that the vertical stripe was a fun and different way to use the self-striping yarn and was easy to adapt to the slightly finer yarn I had on-hand. Based on a Knitpicks pattern  "Toe to Top Striped Socks" http://www.knitpicks.com/Toe+to+Top+Striped+Socks_PD50493220.html, except that I didn't do the proscribed seed stitch for the toe and heel, and I picked up and added the ribbing at the top of the sock instead of the vertical pseudo-rib used in the pattern. Knit in Plymouth Sockotta yarn on size 1 needles.

Gorgeous!  I've made quite a few pairs of self-striping socks, and I've never seen a pair with vertical stripes!  I'm checking out this pattern - thanks for the inspiration!

That is a very cool use for self striping yarn.  Nice job.
