Hey I want to have a mural on one of my walls and I want the colors to be bright and happy but I want what the mural is of to be a little dark and morbid and I really can't figure out what to do.  Music is my life and I love my guitar, but I don't want to do a mural of a band or guitar, but if the mural could look like a cd cover without being an actual real cd cover that would be awesome.  I'm just into out of the box kind of things and I listen to hardcore, screamo, and metal.  To give you an idea Bring Me The Horizon , Drop Dead,Gorgeous , Slayer , Mastodon , and The Devil Wears Prada are some of my favorites at the momment.  If anyone has any ideas or anything that would help me that'd be awesome!  Thank you!

Just an idea, but I think the Devil Wears Prada shoe would be awesome!

Have you ever heard of Mark Ryden? He's one of my favorite artists, and I think "bright but morbid" describes a lot of his work. Maybe check out his site or do a GIS of his name for some inspiration?

There are a couple of artists who popped into my head with that description -- Mark Ryden definitely among them. Also Roman Dirge, if you like the cutely morbid sort of thing. Genndy Tartakovsky also does some very nifty, very graphical "monsters" which might be good inspiration.

I'd claim it was my magnetic personality, but really, that's just the steel.

The first thing I thought of with "bright but morbid" is Day of the Dead.

Something from the movie pan's labarynth would be good.  Like a fairytale gone slightly twisted but you can't quite put your finger on what it is that's wrong exactly.

That's exactly what I thought too.. LOL.. I love the day of the dead, and you said you loved guitar so I found a picture (http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/teams/art.gnome.org/themes/splash_screens/Splash-DayOfTheDead.jpg)
Its black and white but if you made it all bright and colorful I think something like that could be awesome and long the lines of what you're looking for.  Cheesy

i have a friend that did some crazy tripped out artwork. his pieces used bright colors to make something abit uncomfortable like useing all the wrong colors to draw/paint something.  try a drawing that you think is morbid and redo it in completely inappropriate bright colors.  ex: bunny from donnie darko  in hot green and pink and bright blue.
