Sometimes your LYS will copy the pattern for you if you buy all the yarn from them, but that's a bigger expense than the book would be.  Library, maybe?

Does your library do inter-library loans?  Through inter-library, you could theoretically get any book in print.

Good luck!

That pattern is actually a super straight-forward raglan knit in bulky weight with no shaping.  The button band is knit separately and then sewn on and then the stitches are picked up for the collar and knit straight up.  They knit it in pieces, but there's no reason you couldn't do a seamless raglan.  It shouldn't be hard to adapt this from any raglan pattern if you adjust for your gauge.

I love this sweater, too and was a little shocked when I saw how basic it is.  I think it's the collar that makes it really cool.

my library is connected to a ton of other libraries, but they don't carry the ROWAN magazines . . .

i get that the pattern is on the easy side, but i'm not that good a knitter that i can just guess at how it's worked, and i'd really like to follow the pattern.

i'll trade someone a rad cross stitch for a copy of that pattern.

please?
