just wondering if any craftsters are from the armpit of a city I'm currently stuck in ^_^ (well, i exaggerate... it's not that bad, unless you're wanting to make a living from art/crafts)  so yeah, lemme know if you're in the area, might be able to go do crafty stuff together.  just seeking a source of socialization other than D&D games Grin  o_o

I'm in southern Wake County ... I like to go to Fayetteville to drop cash at the Hobby Lobby ... I can't believe that's the closest one, but it is.

What kinds of crafts does everyone do?  I'm into paper crafts and altered art as well as making some jewelry, needlepoint, and crochet.

I love to knit and have started crocheting a lot too recently, but I'm a total fiber lover and anything with that I love.  I also love to sew, but it's more of a winging type.  Painting, woodburning, etc., etc.  There really isn't much I don't like.  I just wish I had time to try all the cool things I have ideas for or see.  Hey mom2girlz it sounds like we are neighbors b/c I live off Wayside right where you are talking about.  I just thought that was funny, small world.

Hi, I am moving to Fayetteville in a few months with my boyfriend. I am a little nevous about moving up there since I won't know anyone yet and my boyfriend won't be back from Afghanistan until March. So just seeing what there is to do around there and where the nearest craft stores are. I love Hobby Lobby.

Right of off Skibo road in Fayetteville (the road the mall is on) there is a Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's, Michael's, and an AC Moore.  They're all about half an hour away for me, but I live pretty far north of Fayetteville.

Good luck with your move!

I'm moving to Fayetteville in about a week or so.

My fiancee and I need to make some friends. Really badly. Or else he's probably going to panic and flee.

I knit, crochet, sew, stitch, and I'm also pretty into baking. Really, I'll try just about anything (except jewelry... just never had much of an interest in the stuff). The boy mostly makes collages.

We're kind of nerdy indie kids who dig table top gaming and I know he'd like to start a band, so if anyone wants to hang out, that would be pretty cool.

Can anyone tell me where I can find some thrift stores in the area?

Jumping on this way late, haha!

urka, there's a few thrift stores on Bragg boulevard, most of them are kinda dinky and lacking in selection, tho the one on the corner of Bragg Blvd and Santa Fe looks kinda promising.

Anyway, I'm Diana, I sew, knit, crochet, learning to quilt, and I play with photoshop, we live on Bragg with my two kidlets and some cats (OMG, someone take this most recent litter of kittens off my hands!), and we're actually starting to pack, looks like my husband is going to be stationed on Ft Lewis instead of back on Bragg come the end of his tour in Korea (supposed to end in less than 90 days, woo!), which is a shame if your fiance is into table top games, as my husband and I have been dying to expand our exalted game to include a few more people, and I'd love to play something new that doesn't involve daiklaves, haha!  Smiley

Wait, where did those come from?  I swear I didn't go to the craft store, honest!

This town seriously makes me want to shoot myself in the face.

Is there ANYTHING good to do here? We can't even find a decent bar to go to.

I live about 45 minutes from Fayettehell in Cameron, but I go there pretty frequently so I would love to meet other crafty people.

I sort of have crafting ADD. I try a little bit of everything. Until I get bored and go onto something else.

And I'm totally absorbing like a sponge all of the crafty locations I can.

Thought I would take a second and chime in.  I am new to Craftster and signed up because there was a lack of craft people in Fayetteville.  At least that I knew of.  But I am over near 71st High School and I am excited to see all the people from Fayetteville on here.  Maybe one day we can form a meet-up or something.

I just moved to Fayetteville (coming from Texas)about a month ago. My husband is stationed at Fort Bragg, but we live on Pope AFB. My sister and her family are also stationed here. My sister and I are always up for hanging out. We are both very artistic, crafty folks.

Anyways, any of y'all give me a shout so we can chat a bit and maybe hang out sometime! I've got a myspace too, add me! myspace.com/cangem.

Hey guys! We should start a crafting group sometime for the Fayetteville area! I haven't heard of any around here yet. I guess the only problem would be that we all are probably into different types of crafting! Anywho Im always up for learning new crafts! I myself love sewing! Though I have tried my hand at scrapbooking/painting/soap making/ candle making/etc. Whats everyones interests?

I'm sort of into everything, except scrapbooking, unless it's digital.

My preferred crafts/hobbies are:
crochet
sewing (hand/machine but im a newb at those)
gardening/home decor (organic and repurposing/thrifting)

im really creative and willing to try almost any craft once. so i'd love for a fayetteville group to open up and id even help out if there is a need.

I know this thread is like 4 years old.. and no one knows me cause I've only been a lurker so far on this board. But I just wanted to say I'm in Fayetteville too.  Just found this site a couple weeks ago and I am loving it.  If a craft group ever does get established, I'd love to be a part of it! I feel bad for anyone else stuck here, but perhaps we could figure out a way to make the best of it. There are a few decent places we could meet up, coffee shops or something. Anyway, I'll be lurkin' if someone decides to organize something!

I'd imagine the chances that this thread is still active are slim to none, but I'll give it a shot.
I just moved here two weeks ago with the boy and am still unpacking (and getting the craft room setup!).  I sew, knit, make jewelry, play with clay...like someone else said, I have crafter's ADD.  I do a little bit of everything.
We haven't been here long enough to make a judgement call (and are trying to keep an open mind).  We came here from Michigan and so far, NC is *far* better.  Fayetteville is sort of like a giant Hinesville (GA).
Anyway, I thought I'd say hi. I was looking for craft fairs in which to participate, but the only one I can find is the Holly Day show that the Junior League organizes, but I don't have $600 for the booth fee.

Ok, I know I'm way, way, WAY behind on this post, but I just found Crafster a few days ago.

I'm in the Fayetteville area! My name is Tiff. I've lived here a year and I HATE this place. I'm on the Sanford side (not far past the Buffalo Lake area). I've had a near-impossible time trying to meet cool people here. I think it's because I'm so far from town. I do few crafts well, but I'm stumbling through a bunch of others. I sew, paint, collage, fold origami if I can find the patience... My guy and I love building random things (like the syringe gun from Bioshock). I got a Serger for xmas and I'm finally learning how to use it (so exciting!). I have done enough knitting to make a scarf and I really want to learn to do more with it. Generally I have a whole ton of things that I want to do, but a small fear of spending a fortune on supplies and messing up.

But if anyone is still around and is interested in a meet-up sort of thing, please count me in! I would love to find some buddies around here.

I'm on the cameron side of sanford. I'm not sure where you are but it couldn't be too far. I do a little bit of everything myself. I have a severe case of crafting ADD, though not much lately with my dad in the hospital. I'd love to figure out how far away you are. My socializing is limited at the moment due to funds and my shifts as Dad's nurse, but maybe when things get cleared up we can plan some kind of crafty adventure.

I'm in Fayetteville, well kinda sorta...I live on Bragg. We've been here for about 7 months and so far I like it, except that it's extremely hard to find any craft shows around here!! Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. I'm a polymer clay gal and felt person myself =)
